NOVELTY / STATIONERY
The product was entering a fragmented novelty stationery market where calendars relied on the same humour, formats and visual cues. Without a distinctive idea, it risked becoming another seasonal SKU competing for attention. The challenge was to create a brand from the ground up—starting with a name and positioning strong enough to turn a simple collection of puns into something shoppers would notice, remember and share.
We started by creating the name Joke Pundemic, an idea that gave us far more than a logo. It gave the brand an entire world to own. We positioned terrible puns as an infectious outbreak, then built every element of the identity around that idea. Biohazard inspired graphics, emergency warnings, Pun Threat Levels and outbreak themed copy transformed a standard joke calendar into an immersive brand experience. The concept also created a natural hook for social content, giving creators something instantly recognisable and entertaining to share while building consistency between the digital shelf, the physical product and social media.
Joke Pundemic launched as more than a novelty calendar. The distinctive concept gave creators a strong visual and storytelling hook, helping drive organic reach and engagement on TikTok. More importantly, we transformed a commodity stationery product into an ownable consumer brand, with a memorable name, distinctive visual world and a platform designed to extend beyond a single SKU.
